Nei duri anni del dopoguerra non era facile allevare animali, soprattutto maiali, notoriamente molto ingordi. Nonno Ettore (col cappello nella foto) esibisce quindi con grande soddisfazione per le strade del paese il risultato assai clamoroso della sua intraprendenza: un grosso maiale di oltre duecentotrenta Kg., un vero record. Anche in Inghilterra, potenza vincitrice del conflitto, era difficoltoso allevare animali. Le ristrettezze erano grandi. Nel delizioso film "Pranzo reale" di M. Mowbray (1984) si narrano le surreali vicende di una allegra combriccola per allevare di nascosto un maiale adeguato ad un banchetto importante.

In the difficult post-war years, breeding animals was not easy - especially pigs who were notoriously greedy. Grandfather Ettore (wearing a hat in the picture) therefore shows with great satisfaction on the streets of the village the result his resourcefulness: a big pig of more than 230 kg -  a record. Even in England, the winning power of the conflict, it was difficult to raise animals as rationing was strict.  In the delightful 1984 movie "A Private Function" by M. Mowbray he tells the surreal story of a merry band who secretly breed a big enough to supply an important banquet.
